300 Hoosier students awarded 2024-2025 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship
Dear neighbor,
In a recent release, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education announced that 300 student scholarships have been awarded through the 2024-2025 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. Each year, this scholarship is given to high-achieving high school and college students pursuing a career in education. The scholarship can be renewed for up to $10,000 annually for four academic years under the agreement that these students will teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school.
For a student to qualify for the scholarship, they must meet at least one of the following academic requirements:
Graduate in the top 20% of their high school class;
Earn a score in the 20th percentile on the SAT or ACT; or
Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
Once selected, students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative college GPA and complete at least 30 college credits per year.
According to the release, 945 students applied for the 2024-2025 Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, marking a 58% increase from the previous year. Applicants represented 315 Indiana high schools in 89 counties across the state. Most applicants were Indiana high school seniors, making up 71% of the total applicants.
I want to congratulate the Warren Central High School students selected for this prestigious scholarship and extend a warm welcome to both recipients who have chosen to continue their academic pursuits at Western Governors University and Ball State University. The exceptional work of these students is commendable, and they will undoubtedly contribute significantly to our educational workforce. I am excited to see them flourish in their academic pursuits and grow into accomplished educators.
The scholarship recognizes the crucial role educators play in shaping the future. Teachers are the backbone of our society, ensuring that youth are equipped to succeed and develop into well-educated individuals. I am extremely proud of these young educators and confident they will provide incredible service to children, making a positive impact in their communities.
